British Orienteering Federation Ranking List

This page contains results and calculated scores for a single orienteering event. The column headings have the following meanings:

Events - the number of events run in the past year
Average - the average score at those events
Time - in (decimal) minutes at this event
Weight - the weighting given when calculating the class means of Time and Average
Score - points awarded for this event
Comments - against some entries indicate why no points may have been allocated.

Most of the comments are clear but the following may need some clarification:

not in members list - but could be a new member. The membership list used by the ranking system may be out of date as it is updated only about 4 times a year; points will be allocated after next update.
invalid BOF number - is also missing from the membership list but it is likely that the number is in error
BOF number duplicated - two or more runners have the same BOF number - serious problem
invalid class - means running down so must be excluded
score allocated to ... - unable to reconcile the runner's name with the membership entry, could be OK but may indicate an error.

It should be noted that the means and standard deviations are calculated in accordance with the ranking list specification which does not use the normal statistical formulae when the number of runners in a class is small (below 20).
