Orienteering

I have been a member of Manchester and District Orienteering Club (MDOC) since 1992 and I have been responsible for looking after the 2000 Ranking List for British Orienteering since 2000.

Some Other Interests

• Sports: badminton, skiing, fellwalking, tower bell ringing
• Go: I have played go on and off since 1965 but never quite made it to dan level
• Family History: having an uncommon name has made it relatively easy to trace my Cumpstey ancestral line back about 300 years.
• Work: before I retired at the end of 2006 I was a research fellow at The University of Manchester in the School of Computer Science for twelve years. Prior to that I worked in the Electricity Supply Industry for the Central Electicity Generating Board, National Power and Nuclear Electric.
